Boy Scouts is open to any boy between the ages of 11 and 17, or roughly 5th grade through high school graduation. Rising 5th graders or boys who are 10 and in the 6th grade are also eligible to join scouting.
Troop 405 meets on Monday nights at Saint Matthew Catholic Church (1001 Mason Road, Durham, NC) from 7 to 8 pm. The Scoutmaster is Matthew Jenks and the Assistant Scoutmasters are Wes Council and Ed Casker. Typically, the Troop has one camping event per month (third or fourth weekend of the month) and one additional activity per month. Every summer, we take a week and attend summer camp at one of the nearby scouting camps; for the past three years, we have attended Camp Durant.
Any boy who might be interested in joining Troop 405 is welcome to come and attend a meeting or an activity to see if we are a good fit or if they are interested in Scouting as a whole. Anyone who would like more information on the Troop or joining Boy Scouts can contact the Scoutmaster, Saint Matthew Catholic Church, or send an inquiry through BeAScout.org to find out more about nearby Troops that may better suit your needs.
